About us
The Azores Surf Center was opened in 2013 by Josephine and Ricardo. Ricardo started surfing in the Algarve, Portugal at a young age before moving to the Azores, where he has been teaching both locals and visitors to surf since 2010. He also run the Azores Surf Club, where he teaches local youths to compete at a national level.
Josephine started teaching surfing in Bundoran, Ireland and volunteered with the charity 'Liquid Therapy' introducing children with disabilities to surfing. She studied Marine Biology and is just as passionate about protecting the oceans as she is about surfing.
The Azores Surf Center is a local surf school which aims to provide a friendly, personal and professional service for those who want to learn to surf or improve their surfing skills. Both Josephine and Ricardo, along with their team of dedicated instructors want people to experience the fun of surfing and to enjoy the natural environment as much as they do.
We are committed to informing people about how to look after and respect the ocean environment, by organising and participating in beach cleanups as well as working in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation Azores.
